Nature of Work:
The Medical Assistant’s primary responsibility is the implementation of medical/health related tasks as directed and overseen by the RN Clinical Coordinator of Day Services and Program Manager. At times the Medical Assistant may be needed to assist in program service provision and direct care, though that is not their primary role. Each individuals Life Plan will be followed with respect for the individual and their expressed wants and needs. The Medical Assistant will work closely with the RN Clinical Coordinator of Day Services, residence staff, and individual’s families.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma. At least one year of experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities or related field of experience is required. Experience with medical appointments and medication ordering and administration required.

Tuberculosis Screening (PPD or TB Test) is required; one record at date of hire, and a second record within three weeks of date of hire, or a past record may be submitted.

Must maintain certification to pass medications and Peg tube feeding.

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Pathways insurability guidelines to operate agency-owned vehicles.
- Must meet the requirements related to Criminal History Record checks that became effective April 1, 2005, which requires prospective employees to be fingerprinted if they have regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with people receiving services in our programs regulated by OPWDD.
