Teresa Taft, Education Coordinator in Education and Training

How long have you worked here and what is your current role?
I have been here 22 years this year and my current role is Education Coordinator

What do you like most about your job?
The best thing about this role is that it is ever changing.  The role is very dynamic and is often something different every single day.  It is fast paced and I am able to develop new useful skills as I go.

What kinds of resources/benefits have you taken advantage of while at Pathways, Inc.?
While working at Pathways, I have taken advantage of our tuition reimbursement program not once but twice. I received both my Associate’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree while still working full time at Pathways and could not have done it without the tuition reimbursement. I have also taken advantage of different options offered through our Employee Assistance Program. I participate in our Agency’s Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance as well as extra offered disability programs. I also contribute to our 401K. I have participated in other programs over the last 22 years such as monthly wellness programs which included topics such as health education and life coaching.

How have you grown professionally while working here?
I originally started at Pathways, Inc. in our residential program which serves individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. I gained so much valuable experience during my experience with that program and was able to grow my professional relationship with many of the employees, Supervisors, Managers, Directors and even Executive Vice Presidents, many of whom still remain employed today. I was able to move into a Training Assistant position then had some experience working as a shared position between Training and Human Resources. I eventually moved back into a full time training position, earned my Bachelor’s Degree then was able to work into the Education Coordinator position which I am still currently in.

What’s the most rewarding aspect about working at Pathways, Inc.?
At this agency, we all have the ability to change someone’s life. No matter what program an employee is working at, they have the ability daily to help. The big picture at Pathways is that we are all here to support people. We all have a role that in some way shape or form is part of that big picture. I have learned so many valuable skills that I know I would not have gained elsewhere. I know this agency has truly shaped who I am as a person.
