Family Support Services

Family Support Services, funded through the Office of People With Developmental Disabilities, offers a variety of supports for families of individuals with a developmental disability who live at home with a family member.

Family Support Services

Family Support Services (FSS), funded through the Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), offers a variety of supports for families of individuals with a developmental disability who live at home with a family member. Many individuals who are diagnosed with a developmental disability require some form of care/assistance throughout their lifetime. When the individual lives at home with his/her family, the family may need support and assistance in caring for their loved one.

Support Services

  • Hourly Respite
  • Family Reimbursement for approved items related to the individual’s diagnosis
  • Rest-pitality facilitates a weekend getaway for caregivers, as well as Respite for the individual with a developmental disability living at home and their siblings
  • Ride with Pride offers participants the opportunity to experience the benefits of recreational horseback riding
  • Information and referral

Population and Geographic Area Served

The FSS programs support individuals who have secured eligibility from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and live at home with a family member. Unless otherwise noted, FSS serves individuals in Chemung, Steuben, and Schuyler counties.

Residential Services

These residential program options offer a variety of 24-hour supervised home settings for children with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Pathways Inc. also provides a Therapeutic Foster Care program, plus contracted services with the Steuben Department of Social Services for at-risk youth and families, Steuben County Community Mental Health Services for adults and children, Chemung County Department of Social Services for Parent Advocacy, and Steuben County Public Health.

Conable House Community Residence for Children and Youth

The Conable House Community Residence Program for Children and Youth located in Bath, NY serves youth who are experiencing emotional difficulties and have reached a level of stability and recovery in other inpatient and residential settings which enables them to live with others in a community-based setting, attend local schools, and participate in community, cultural, and social opportunities.

Lake Breeze Community Residence for Adolescents

Lake Breeze Community Residence for Adolescents, located in Canandaigua, NY serves youth who are experiencing emotional difficulties and have reached a level of stability and recovery in other inpatient and residential settings which enables them to live with others in a community-based setting, attend local schools, and participate in community, cultural, and social activities.

Steuben County Department of Social Services (DSS) Collaborative Programs serve children who are at imminent risk of out-of-home placement and their families.

Become a Resource (foster) Parent and provide a local home to keep children and youth in their community.
