Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Services

SEIT Services is a unique program providing services to preschool children with disabilities outside the formal preschool special class program. SEIT services offer a special education teacher to work with preschool children in their "natural setting." Natural setting is defined to include an approved or licensed pre-kindergarten program, Head Start programs, the child's home or any child care location. The special education teacher devises instructional programming centered around the child's needs, as indicated on his/her IEP. The teacher is also responsible to coordinate all related services necessary for each child by collaborating with Steuben County Department of Special Children's Services. Children are referred for SEIT services via their school district's Committee on Preschool Special Education.
